How about a nice cup of hot cider at The Foundry in Cambridge, served by a costumed cast member of Liars and Believers, as you wait to see their latest performance of A Story Beyond? Part of a week-long family-friendly school vacation week dedicated to the theme of storytelling, A Story Beyond is a crowd-pleasing gem. Music, masks, hand-held puppets, shadow puppetry, lights, and colors abound throughout the story-filled hour-long show.

You shoulda been there.

That’s all I can say, because if you weren’t able to attend Liars & Believers’ (LAB) sold out performance of IRRESISTIBLE last week, you’re not going to be able to catch a later performance of this compelling and enormously fun music/dance/theater composite. LAB presents their coLABs for one night only (this is the first since 2015’s Talk To Strangers), which is a shame since it’s so much fun to watch these artists create pieces outside their more traditional performance vehicles.

There’s a lot of fun to be had at Liars & Believers’ expanded production of ‘Yellow Bird Chase’, the laugh-filled fairy tale with music that marks their debut as Artists in Residence at the Boston Center for the Arts. Originally developed as a 30 minute piece for the 2015 “Outside the Box” festival, “Yellow Bird” is 70 minute mash-up of clowning, puppetry, and cabaret-style music that is pure entertainment. And while the production appears to be aimed mostly at the kiddies, there’s still plenty to keep the adults in the audience amused, particularly if they’re fans of iconic 60’s pop tunes.
